Volunteer with RECLAIM

“It isn’t so much the specific work I do at RECLAIM that keeps me coming back, but rather the focus and values of the organization and the obvious way that the staff and other volunteers involved with RECLAIM live out their compassion, their gratitude, their commitment to justice for youth in a very tangible way. It had been a long time since I felt my heart opening up in new ways; it had been a long time since I rejected cynicism and embraced gratitude. RECLAIM is such a wonderful place because everything about the focus and atmosphere encourages you to be your true self and speak from your genuine heart. I don’t have to hide behind humor or lie about my partner. Every Thursday, I come into contact with people with honest eyes and open hearts working together to help people reclaim what they have lost in the struggle to just be themselves. I feel gratitude every day for RECLAIM and ways it continues to help guide me to the path of my own true self, one week at a time.”                                              -Alicia Bauers, Communications Intern

“In the fabric of how RECLAIM is structured is the opportunity for people who receive services to be leaders in the community. The goal is to empower youth to be forces of change in the culture, NOT to help them better adjust to the culture. It is the culture that needs adjusting!”                                                                                                                                                           – MJ Gilbert, RECLAIM board member
